What does OSHA actually require for handwashing?
The rule people misquote most is 1926.51(f)(1). It does not apply to every job site. It kicks in specifically where employees are applying paints, coatings, herbicides or insecticides, or working around similar contaminants, and it requires washing facilities in those cases. That is different from general sanitation, which falls under OSHA portable toilet requirements and 1926.51(c). Do I need handwashing stations for a food event or farm operation?
